| All modems | Connection Speed | WHY IS MY MODEM ONLY CONNECTING AT 33600? | What is your connection speed as declared by dialupnetworking, this can be found, by doubleclicking the two babycomputers on your taskbar once you have connected. This will normally vary between 33.6 and 48k from call to call. The weather can effect line conditions therefore a clear sunny day may give faster connections!! The average expected connection speed in the UK is 42k, any faster than this is a premium If you are connected at any speed above 33600 then you are connected at v90 (or k56/x2)!! As a final tweek. to gain an extra 2k you can call BT and ask them to 'increase' the gain on your line. In order to connect at 56kV90 the recommended port speed is 115200. This can be found at start>settings>controlpanel>modem>properties>maximum speed Confirm that the ISP telephone number you are dialling is v90 and not X2. |
